Amy Bowler Allen

I’ve always loved reading and writing — which led to a journalism degree from the University of Maine. By day, I’m an editor and art director at one of Maine’s largest newspapers, the Bangor Daily News, as well as Bangor Metro magazine. I’m honored to have received multiple Maine Press Association awards for my work.

In 2022, I won Honorable Mention at the Maine Crime Wave for a flash fiction piece about a homicidal ice fisherman. I’m a member of the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance. I’m also mom and chauffeur to two rapidly growing kids. And by late night, I’m a total bookworm who still loves to read under the covers and goes through a shocking number of book lights each year.
